A deal Harry's glad was Dunne

I have to admit to being somewhat confused at QPR fans when Harry Redknapp signed free agent Richard Dunne; the common theme was, 'He's too old and injury prone,' the first player I thought about was Ryan Nelsen! Funny enough the experienced Republic of Ireland International has done the same as the former Kiwi captain; given his all and played superbly!

A stat that not many defenders can boast about is; played seven and conceded no goals! Now of course we all know it's a team game and the defense is working so well as a unit, this is where experience really comes into its own.

Dunne hasn't got the speed, but he does have a great football brain! He get's himself in the right positions with his reading of the game, once he's on you he's like a dog with a bone!

I've noticed what he also brings is a calmness, he never seems to panic, always looking to see where his teammates are so he can pass it to them or simply clear his lines. I personally think that having a player of similar age in Clint Hill has helped, it's not like Dunne has to worry about him and tell him what to do!

It can't have done goalkeeper Rob Green's confidence any harm when Dunne was signed, having a solid defense in front of him has obviosly helped in keeping seven clean sheets in a row.

When we played Middlesbrough I noticed how much Danny Simpson talked to Dunne, making sure it was all right to bomb down the wing and coming back when needed to. The one time he wasn't back, Simpson got an earful!

Nedum Onuoha and Clint Hill were the centre back pairing I would have gone for, sadly Nedum got injured, when he returns Harry has a great headache on selection in defense, but he already has that problem in midfield anyway!

I have to agree with Harry when he said he couldn't believe a Premiership side didn't come in for him, he is a class player and another player that Harry trusts to do the job; and he does it brilliantly.

In Harry we trust!
