How QPR have helped England go to Rio
I remember going to an evening game at Portman Road in two thousand and eleven; the season we were promoted. Neil Warnock had got in a young player from Tottenham to play in defence, a young right back called Kyle Walker. From a personal point of view I think it was the best we played all season; we literally steam-rolled Ipswich for the full ninety minutes and the new lad looked as if he'd played in the side all his life!
I don't need to go on about the rest of that season but we ignited the Sheffield born player's career; he forced his way into both the Spurs side and finally the senior England squad.
The 'little' club in West London did well.
So it was hard to believe that history could repeat itself but it has. Harry knew exactly what he was getting when he took Andros Townsend to Loftus Road; he certainly surprised a few of the loyal fans with his mazy runs and shots from wherever he wanted!
I'm sure Harry did all he could to try and get him back but Roy Hodgson had seen enough to convince him to give him a try in the full England squad; and what a couple of games he's had.
Andros grew up with and played football with Ray Jones; I'd like to think Ray was with him on that Wembley turf!
England in Rio at next year’s World Cup and Queens Park Rangers football club can proudly take some credit for it.
Is the hat-trick on with Tom Carroll?
Out of the three I can see Tom finding it the hardest; his skill is there for all to see but his strength against bigger players is a problem. He needs building up but is on the right track. Can he make it? Only time will tell.
The battle for places is sure to be a heated one and what's to say a certain Robert Green might get an invitation?
At least we know Roy goes to Loftus Road; might I suggest he might have been looking at Clint Hill?
Now that would be a story in itself!
